INVERGORDON Academy’s new head teacher has been named as Alison Drew, the current acting head.

Ms Drew (pictured) from Dunfermline went to university in Dundee, where she spent the early years of her career teaching social subjects before becoming principal teacher of modern studies.

She moved to the Highlands in 2005 as a teacher of history and modern studies and then acting principal teacher of guidance at Inverness Royal Academy.

In 2007, she was appointed depute head teacher at the 400-pupil school in Invergordon.

Ms Drew said: “I am absolutely delighted to be taking up this new job. I really enjoy working with the school community. It is such a good school and my aim is to ensure that we maintain the high standards of learning here.”
