The final stop on the End-to-Enders' journey north.

A honeymooning couple completed their Land’s End to John O’Groats dream on Sunday.

Following their May marriage, Sami and Seth Gibson from Surrey, walked the length of Britain in 87 days to raise money for the Butterfly Conservation charity.

Neither are experienced walkers but they raised over £3000 for the UK’s only charity dedicated to saving butterflies, moths and the environment.

In 2010 Sami and Seth attempted to see all of Britain’s butterfly species, being defeated only by the elusive Mountain Ringlet, denizen of high, barren mountain-tops and the Clouded Yellow, a migrant species which occurs in Britain in varying numbers each year.

All of the other 56 were seen though, which is more than many UK butterfly enthusiasts see in a lifetime.

Sami explained that in the last decade, almost three-quarters of our butterfly species have suffered population declines.

“Our butterflies are an obvious and important part of our ecosystem, which is to say that if butterfly numbers are healthy, so is our countryside,” she said.

“And yet three-quarters are in decline. Something urgently needs to be done.

“We are doing our little bit, this is now your opportunity to help make a difference too.”
