THE North East’s longest running Scottish Traditional Music Show makes its annual return to Aberdeen’s Music Hall on Saturday, September 21.
Saturday Night at The Auld Meal Mill has been a favourite night out with audiences since 1982 and is now entering its 32nd consecutive year.
Many of the well-known names on the Scottish music scene have appeared on stage over the years, Aly Bain and Violet Tulloch, Bill McCue, The Tartan Lads and Gaberlunzie to name but a few.
The Auld Meal Mill has also been a showcase for the many artists who have recorded albums with Ross Records over the years, people like Ina Miller from Wick, Simon Brown from Aberchirder better known as ‘Auld Broon’ and Manson Grant and The Dynamos.
The 2013 show features Robert Lovie as top of the bill with support from comedian Eddie Rose and newcomers The Brandon McPhee Trio, from Caithness. Brandon who plays button key accordion has been hailed by many as the new Will Starr and he is accompanied by Manson Grant on keyboard and Robert Cameron on drums.
The Marlene Lowe Dancers with Piper Pamela Whyte will be performing some new dances and the audience will be treated to the great sound of Turriff and District Pipe Band led by Pipe Major Bill Hepburn Jnr, resplendent in their number one dress and MacLean of Duart tartan.
The music on stage is provided by James Alexander and the Reel Ceilidh Band.
There will also be a great opportunity to buy some Ross Records CDs and DVDs from the sales tables, all at bargain prices.
