POLICE have confirmed that the identity of the woman found dead at Banff Links beach on Monday was Patricia Milne.

She was 61 and was from Cornhill.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and as is normal practice, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Police rushed to Banff Links on Monday morning after the body of the woman was discovered at the beach.

It is understood she was found by a dog walker and police were called to the beach at 8.10am, closing off the entrance to the links car park.

A number of officers and forensics were at the scene for most of the day and the road to the links was reopened at about midday.
