The office of MSP Karen Adam is the latest addition to the PickUpMyPeriod app.

The initiative currently links members of the public using the app to hundreds of venues in many communities where free products are available.

The move from the Banffshire And Buchan Coast MSP is in addition to the Period Products Act recently coming into force, which means local authorities now have a legal duty to provide free items such as tampons and sanitary pads to anyone who needs them.

In coordination with the PickUpMyPeriod app, for every purchase of period products made by MSP Karen Adam with HeyGirls, the suppliers match the purchase with a donation which supports over 150 community partners around the UK, including foodbanks, homelessness support organisations, and women’s refuges who work directly with people living in poverty.

Her constituency office is situated in the town centre of Peterhead, at 20 Chapel Street.

Commenting Karen Adam MSP said: “My office is now registered on the PickUpMyPeriod app so that members of the public can come in and collect any period products available.

“Since being elected as an MSP for the first time last year, I have always been keen to go that extra step further and ensure my constituency office is a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

“Period poverty is a real thing that too many people experience, which is further being exacerbated by the UK government’s self-inflicted cost of living crisis.

"Being caught short without period products really can have a profound impact on the financial situation of people and families.

"Blood ruins clothes, bedding and mattresses.

"Washing and replacing comes at a cost.

“That’s why I’m delighted to be the latest edition on the PickUpMyPeriod app.

"I’m in the position where I can do something to help eradicate period poverty and I’ll be using my office as a hub for period products for anyone who needs them.

"Let’s eradicate period poverty together.”
