Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin is encouraging anyone who may need free sanitary products to access a service available from the local authority.

The service is for anyone who menstruates and lives in Aberdeenshire and enables products to be sent out by post.

Individuals will be able to receive a two-month supply which can include disposable sanitary pads, tampons and reusable pads.

Products will also be available by telephone for those who do not have access to the internet.

It comes after the Scottish Government became the first country in the world to pass legislation for free period products last year.

“This service from Aberdeenshire Council is very welcome and will allow anyone who needs to, to access this service.

“If you or anyone you know may need to access period products please access the form available on the Aberdeenshire Council website or call the number.

“Everyone who needs to should be able to access free sanitary products without embarrassment or shame and services like this are vital to be able to do so.”
