MP Richard Thomson has written to the chief executive of NHS Grampian, urging “careful consideration” of fresh proposals by the Friends of Insch Hospital to re-open the facility.

Describing the proposal as one which is “very welcome”, Mr Thomson acknowledged the anxieties which many in the community have about the future of Insch Hospital, and is seeking an assurance about the role that the hospital might play in the future delivery of local health and wellbeing services.

MP for the Gordon constituency Mr Thomson said: “This is a very welcome and generous proposal from the Friends and one which I hope NHS Grampian will be able to give careful consideration to.

“Insch Hospital is very close to people’s hearts.

"I hope that NHS Grampian can offer a positive response to the Friends’ proposals, as well as offering clarity on the future delivery of health, social care and wellbeing services in the West Garioch area and the role Insch Hospital might be able to play in that.”
