A CALL has gone out for volunteers to help rebuild the wooden hut in the Battlehill.
The clearing of timber blown down by winter storms is well under way and is being made available to the group who are committed to re-instating the popular meeting place, which was burned to the ground in May 2020.
Aberdeenshire Council recently approved planning permission for the re-build and now a meeting is planned for Friday, July 1 at 7pm, for people who are keen to help with the project to offer their services.
Dave Whitehead who led the original team will co-ordinate the work and volunteers are needed to help move timber, strip off bark and general labouring.
Lena Sierakowski who kicked off the drive to re-build the hut said: "There will be all sorts of jobs for anyone willing to help out. If we had one or two people with chainsaw operator licences that would be really useful.
"We are hoping to have the site cleared mid July then do the re-build during August and September, depending on how much help we can get."
An appeal for cash to re-build the hut raised over £2300 and there have been in kind donations too.
Ms Sierakowski continued:"The clear up of wind blown timber is under way by Aberdeenshire Council and will be delivered to the site for us. We also plan to instal some fixed seating in front of the hut and Sellar's engineering said at the outset they would donate a fire basket so we will be approaching them."
It is hoped to hold the meeting on site, subject to timber felling operations, but the venue will be confirmed nearer the date on the Rebuild Battlehill Huttie Huntly Facebook page.
