The Muir Mhòr Offshore Wind Farm project is a proposed floating offshore wind farm located approximately 65 kilometers east from the Aberdeenshire coast off Peterhead and covers an area of approximately 200km2.

The project is a joint venture between Fred Olsen Seawind and Vattenfall, which, once delivered, could deliver up to 1GW of renewable energy.

Having introduced the project to the community at early-stage consultation events in November, they are holding further engagement events in the coming weeks at which they will be displaying updated proposals, and inviting the community to provide their feedback.

The events are taking place as follows -

Tuesday, March 26 at Peterhead Football Club, Balmoor Terrace, Peterhead from 2-7pm

Wednesday, March 27 at Longside Parish Church Hall, Inn Brae, Longside from 2-7pm.

The exhibition will contain detailed information on the surveys that have been underway onshore and offshore, and future development plans. Members of the Muir Mhòr project team will be in attendance to answer any queries.

All of the materials at the exhibitions will also be made available in a virtual exhibition, which will be online from 26 March at: www.muirmhor.co.uk/consultation.

Any comments received by the Muir Mhòr Offshore Wind Farm project team are not representations to the planning authority. Representations to the planning authority can be made once the planning applications have been submitted to Marine Scotland and Aberdeenshire Council.

The second scheme of the coast of Wick, is the Stromar Offshore Wind Farm a joint venture between Ørsted, BlueFloat Energy and Renantis.

It has already submitted its comprehensive scoping and screening reports to the Marine Directorate and Aberdeenshire Council for the offshore and onshore aspects of its 1 Gigawatt floating offshore wind energy project.

Stromar, located approximately 50 km east of Wick uses a floating foundation anchored to the seabed by mooring lines, allowing it to be sited in deeper waters further away from the coast.

Energy generated will be exported via a cable link making landfall between Fraserburgh and Rosehearty before connecting to the National Grid near New Deer.

Public information events take place on -

Monday, March 18 - Ritchie Hall, Strichen, 11am-5pm.

Tuesday March 19 - North East Scotland College, Fraserburgh Campus (front entrance), off Henderson Road, Fraserburgh, 2pm - 8pm.

Wednesday March 20 - New Deer Public Hall, 2pm-8pm.
