Blue Wilson has been bowled over by the amazingly warm welcome she received during the Moray section of her challenge.

The 48-year-old from the Yorkshire town of Selby is bidding to walk in stages around the entire coastline of the UK.

Having set off on April 1 from Collieston, near Ellon, Blue completed the latest leg of her journey this morning by arriving in Inverness.

Speaking in the car as her husband, Andrew, drove them back down south for work tomorrow, she said: "The past 10 days have been amazing.

"I really loved Moray – the scenery is so beautiful.

"I can't pick out one single place because, virtually every corner you walked around, you'd find another spot where you'd like to retire to."

In Burghead.

Blue walks during her holidays from her job as a council caretaker in Selby.

Andrew drops her off in the car each morning, then uses GPS to find and pick her up again.

In between she walks about 20 miles each day.

Meanwhile, Andrew takes in the local attractions which, in Moray, included Cardhu and Benromach distilleries as well as managing to take a photo of dolphins at Burghead.

Blue has now walked the east coast from the town of Oare in Kent to Inverness.

So far Blue has completed 1760 miles and raised £2344 for two marine conservation charities – Surfers Against Sewage and Sea Changers.

With the four home nations having at least 11,000 miles of combined coastline, she knows, but doesn't mind, that it's a challenge which will take her years.

Blue said: "The tide was in when I reached Burghead on Friday so I walked though Roseisle Forest, which was really lovely.

"Then, the sun was so warm as I emerged from out of Culbin Forest on Saturday, it was like being in the South of France.

"I want to thank everyone for being so welcoming.

"I've recently had a flag made to make it clearer that I'm walking the UK coastline and the reasons for it.

"So loads of people were really curious and coming up to ask questions.

"But I think folk are really friendly up here anyhow – and they're also quick to put their hands in their pockets."
