Moray will stay in level 3 for at least another week

Moray is set to remain under level 3 restrictions for at least another week, the First Minister has just confirmed at Holyrood.

Nicola Sturgeon has stated that Moray will not follow the rest of Scotland in having its anti-Covid measures relaxed on Monday.

Travel restrictions in and out of Moray will also be re-imposed, it has just been announced.

Glasgow, which has witnessed a steep rise in case over recent days, will also remain in Level 3 for a further week.

The latest published rate for Glasgow is 80.4 per 100,000 (between May 5 and May 11) and for Moray it's now 68.9.

Moray Council will receive an extra £375,000 to help local businesses.

Ms Sturgeon said the situation in Moray gave reason for "cautious optimism".

However she added: "It is prudent for Moray to remain in level 3 for a further week so that we can be more confident that the situation is firmly under control."
