As a personal trainer from Moray, Glynis works predominately with middle-aged women. Her passion and knowledge of female health led to her becoming an associate of the Menopause Café, a support group for all things menopause.

Moray Menopause Café is held regularly at The New Denver in Cullen, where both women and men are welcome to attend.

Glynis said: “I realised that my every-day clients were benefitting from this knowledge and were feeling better about themselves.

“When you think of menopause you think of the doom and gloom, you think about the hot sweats, you think about memory loss and brain fog, you don’t necessarily think about embracing this new you.”

The café is a safe environment for all women to come and talk about the symptoms of menopause as well as what is going on in their home life.

Many members of the menopause café speak highly about the impact it has had on them.

Carol, a frequent attendee of the café, said: “Navigating my way through menopause has been a major struggle for me. With a mountain of symptoms and emotions to contend with I felt like I had nowhere to turn to.

“Since attending Glynis’s menopause café sessions, I have a clearer understanding of what is happening inside my body. Glynis has advised on managing my symptoms as well as sharing the benefits of sleep routines, managing stress, gut health and body positivity.

“It’s been a game-changer for me, a safe space to offload, thanks to Glynis.”

Another attendee, Sharon, added: “I honestly wish Glynis had been running her menopause café eight years ago when I first started my menopause journey as I honestly thought I was losing my mind at times!

“Attending the menopause café regularly has truly changed my lifestyle for the better and I am honestly the healthiest and fittest I have been for a long time.”

Glynis also assures that the menopause café is open to men too and could be most helpful for husbands who are seeking a greater understanding of how menopause affects their home environment.

“You can now see men processing the information, rationalising what’s going on in their home environment and are interpreting menopause differently.

“There are big improvements on people being able to maintain relationships with others by coming to the café and just talking.”

Glynis assures that the menopause café is a safe space for everyone and anyone who has been affected by menopause.

“Just let them tell their story”, she said. “Give them a chance.”
