A MORAY hairdresser who helps people regain confidence after hair loss has been nationally recognised.

Sarah Murray, from Keith, has been hairdressing ‘on and off’ for the past 30 years but decided to start her own business from home last year.

She was recently shortlisted for the Hair and Beauty Awards finals in Birmingham for the category of Best Home Salon.

Sarah said it felt ‘amazing’ to be recognised for her work and she looks forward to attending the awards in June.

Evolve Hair offers hair loss treatments that help clients who suffer from conditions like alopecia and pattern baldness.

She said: “It’s a very hard time for a lot of people. It can be soul destroying losing your hair for whatever reason. The feeling you get when you can help them is amazing.

“After people have the treatment, they’re almost in shock. It’s really rewarding to know that you are making a difference.”

One of the treatments, mesh integration, is a form of netting that is placed at the root of the hair and new hair is then interlocked with the natural strands.

She also offers novo cabelo hair replacement which is made with a polymer membrane that acts like skin. Sarah is one of seven hairdressers in Scotland who offer the treatment.

Hair treatment for both women and men is available at Evolve Hair.

“Wigs can be quite uncomfortable,” Sarah said, “You don’t have to take this off, it’s permanently attached, and we check it as we go to see that it suits each client. It doesn’t suit everybody.”

As she runs her salon from home, Sarah’s clients are given a less daunting and more personalised experience.

“Some of the services I offer, including hair loss treatments, are quite a personal thing,” she said. “Not everyone likes to go into a big salon.”
