Cold Chaos: Moray Council struggles with bin collection amid snowy conditions

THE recent spell of freezing temperatures in Moray has led to a series of disruptions in waste collection services, leaving residents in several areas with uncollected bins.

The collections mostly affect the Speyside and Glenlivet area. Moray Council have apologised for the inconvenience caused and have scheduled new collection dates.

Bin disruptions:

Route 26 – Green bins in the Lower Cabrach, Cabrach Farm Area, Bluefolds, Gallowhill-Smiddy Area, GlenRinnes Graveyard Area, and Tombreckie have not been collected. Additionally, recycling and glass bins in the same areas, along with Glenlivet Lodges, have also been affected. Although no new date has been scheduled, the council have confirmed they will monitor weather conditions and attempt to collect these bins later in the week.

Route 90 – Brown Bin collection has been affected on this route. This includes Arndilly - Belnagarrow Road, Mulben Warehouses to Forgie, Hill of Muldene, Loanbank Cottages area, Bush of Muldearie area, Keepers Cottage area, Rowan Brae Farm area and Aultmore area. Residents in these areas are informed that due to the weather conditions, the bins will not be emptied until the next scheduled collection date on January 30th. The Council expresses regret for any inconvenience caused by this delay.

Route 86 – In Croughley, Bridge of Brown, Chapelton, Braes of Glenlivet, and the Lecht Road, collections of green bins, blue and purple bins, and glass bags/boxes have been halted due to the harsh weather. Moray Council will attempt to collect these bins on Thursday, January 18. Residents are advised to present these bins for 7.30 on this date.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the latest announcements from the Council on their website regarding bin collections in their respective areas.
