Carers provide vital support to both individuals and their families in our communities.

Whether an unpaid carer looking after a loved one or as someone who has chosen the service as their vocation, carers always go above and beyond in their role.

The carer of the year award will be presented to an individual who cares for a loved one and who has made personal sacrifices in order to tend to the needs of others.

NOMINATE at www.hnmedia.co.uk/morayheroes by Friday, February 10.

The award is sponsored by Parklands.

Managing director, Ron Taylor, said: "Parklands Care Homes has its roots in Moray and we’re proud to have served the region for 30 years. It’s an area where community matters and Moray and Banffshire Heroes is an opportunity to say thank you to the many selfless people who work hard to improve their local community.

"As a local care provider, we are proud to sponsor the carer of the year award. The pandemic has shone a light on the important work of carers, both paid and unpaid. This award is an opportunity to say thank you to a carer who has touched the lives of others in such a meaningful way.

"If you know someone who cares, whether in a hospital, care home, or for a family member, please take the time to nominate them. As a former family carer myself, I know how challenging it can be so let’s celebrate the amazing work of our local carers.”

Sponsored by Inverness Airport, the Moray and Banffshire Heroes awards feature 12 main categories:

In addition to the 12 main categories, there is also a very special award. Our judges will choose the hero of heroes from all of the winners and they will be revealed on awards night on Thursday, April 20.
