Co-op stores in the north-east have once again distributed thousands of pounds to groups as part of their Local Community Fund.

For the 2022-23 fundraising session, the three causes which the Fyvie store supported were Fyvie Guide House, Auchterless Playgroup and Methlick Scouts.

The £1408 received by Fyvie Guide House will be used towards the ongoing renovations to the property, which is owned by Girlguiding Gordon and Girlguiding Banff and Buchan.

Their current project is extending and upgrading the kitchen to nurture visitors’ interest in cooking activities.

The residential facility is primarily used by Girlguiding groups of all ages in the north-east, however is also used by other youth organisations, Police Scotland volunteers and other community groups looking for a base for events.

Co-op members raise money for local groups simply by scanning their membership card while shopping, with two pence from every pound spent on eligible items going into a charity pot for that store.

Members can then choose which of the three current causes they would like to support, or if no cause is selected their 'donations' will be split between the causes.

Nationally the fund has donated over £117,000,000 to community causes.
