On Saturday an unbeaten Methlick travelled to bottom of the Grade Dunecht and unfortunately for the home team MCC travelled with one of their strongest sides of the season so far.

It looked a daunting day for them under glorious blue skies and after losing the toss Dunecht were faced with the dependable attack of Veersema and Duffy.

A dismantling of the batting line up ensued with Veersema opening the rout in his second over, Hordley catching Lynas for 2.

Fellow opener Milne went for 4 after Duffy replaced himself with Addison who had a first all LBW.

Short bursts came from the strong bowling line-up.

Reeve bowled some pies but still managed to bag a wicket in the shape of Baldry for 4, Veersema taking the catch.

Hordley came on to replace Reeve and opened up with a caught and bowled to dismiss Rahman for 5, and then removed Strachan with a mighty catch from Alasdair Smith in the deep, a steepling ball that could so easily have slipped through his fingers.

Derrett was the only batsman to offer any resistance surviving not out 10 and the only Dunecht player to reach double figures as the rest fell around him.

The score moved from 41 for 3 to all out 48 in 27 overs.

Hordley took a second caught and bowled and finished with fantastic figures of 5 for 8 off his 5 over spell.

Once again the fielders excelled with 8 catches, 3 behind the stumps for Woodhouse, and not a single chance dropped.

This has been the hallmark of the Methlick season so far.

After tea, the target was surpassed with little trouble.

Woodhouse went to an unplayable delivery on a dodgy wicket from loanee, Veera Mani, who also accounted for Veersema. Smith not out 12 and Hordley not out 17 completed the rout as Methlick won by 8 wickets and held on to their undefeated record.

Next week sees the game of the season as for the first time ever Methlick 1 plays Methlick 2 at Lairds in a league match.

The fixture has created huge excitement in the area and big crowds are expected for the party atmosphere.

Tickets are changing hands for colossal sums on the black market and there are no rooms to be had at The Ythan View.

Anyone wishing to attend is more than welcome.
