The 2021 Methlick Fund Run has been cancelled, however there's still an opportunity for people to get involved.

The ninth annual Methlick Fund Run should have been taking place next month to raise funds for New Life Homes, with participants completing either a 5km or 10km route, however ongoing coronavirus restrictions mean that organisers have been forced to cancel the event for the second time.

Instead organiser Stuart Kennedy and his son Robert have announced that they will be taking on their own challenge to raise funds for the charity, and are encouraging others to do the same.

On April 17 the pair have pledged to run 10k, as they would have done if the Fund Run was going ahead, and anybody who would like to donate can do so through: Virgin Money Giving.

Commenting, Stuart said: "On Saturday, April 17, my son and I will run the 10km course and I would encourage you, if you are able, to run a 5km or 10km route where you are.

"Even though there will be no proper Methlick Fund Run, New Life Homes continues to run, providing food, medical care, love and support to the young children and babies in its care.

"As such funds and donations are as ever key to them.

"If you wish to run your own 5km or 10km on or near to April 17, wherever you are and then donate via the Virgin Giving site that would be most welcome.

"Wherever you are and whatever you do on April 17, I wish you all the very best during these challenging times."

Last year's virtual event which was held as a virtual race raised almost £1000 for New Life Homes, which supports abandoned babies and young children in Kenya.

Some of the things money raised through events like Methlick Fund Run will be used for by the charity include milk, food, clothes, beds, toys and medical care.
