Met Office issues yellow rain warning for Grampian area

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain for the Grampian area.

It will last between midnight and 10am on Tuesday, August 16.

The public is expected to prepare for:

  • A small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • A small chance of fast flowing or deep flood water causing danger to life
  • Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • A small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads
  • A slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses

Further spells of rain, heavy at times, are expected during the early hours of Tuesday and in the morning.

A further 20 to 30mm rain could fall in some places and isolated rumbles of thunder are possible.

This rain will start to become lighter and patchier during Tuesday morning before finally easing later in the day.
