Three men have been charged in relation to a series of alleged theft by housebreaking incidents to domestic and commercial premises in the Turriff and Banff areas that occurred earlier this week.

The incidents were reported to have occurred in the Coldhome Street, Temple View and Strait Path areas of Banff, plus the Gairniestone area of Turriff on Monday and Tuesday.

Alcohol, antiques, electrical items and jewellery worth a high four figure sum were stolen as a result of the incidents, however the majority of items have since been recovered and will be returned to their owners.

The three men aged 26, 41 and 42 are expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Detective Constable Shonagh MacGregor, who led the investigations, said: “I'd like to thank those who assisted us with our enquiries.

"North East Police Division is committed to tackling acquisitive crime. When crimes occur we will use all resources and techniques available to us to detect those responsible and ensure they are held accountable for their actions.

“If anyone sees or hears any unusual or suspicious activity in their community please call Police Scotland on 101 with any details, ideally at the time you become aware of it."
