The men were cheered on as they left their inhibitions at the door to strut their stuff at Men On Poles on Saturday night.

The event, organised by 1 Life Gym, saw the group of 11 men undergo a two hour crash course in pole fitness before showing off a choreographed routine to the song Pony, most recognisable for its inclusion in Magic Mike, for an audience of around 50 family and friends.

After showing off their routine, they put on a freestyle competition where the men went head to head in an attempt to 'make it rain' for their chosen charity, Prostate Scotland.

There was also a raffle and games, as well as donations from people who didn't come along on the night.

On the night, pole fitness instructor Marie Shorthouse said: "It takes a lot of nerve to do what these guys have done.

"Anybody who does pole knows just how much hard work goes into learning a routine, so you can really see how they have all pushed themselves.

"It may just be one routine but we have a brilliant show - ladies you're in for a treat!"

Gym owner Shama Rafiq took to social media after the event and said: "Wow, what a turn out, what an amazing event!

"I can't thank you enough for a your support and making the night a success.

"The boys worked their backsides off (literally) and they brought the house down with their amazing performance.

"Thank you to everyone who took part, donated some lovely raffle prizes and helped out throughout the event.

"A massive thank you to Marie for working her magic and unleashing the divas in our participants!"

The event came about after a number of other charity fundraisers held at the gym, when some of the men said that they would like to get involved with doing their bit.

The men were keen to support a charity which supported men affected by prostate cancer, and it didn't take too much persuasion before they had more men on board.

As they were taking on the challenge for charity the men were all able to cast their nerves aside and put their all into their pole performance to persuade their audience to part with their cash for the cause.

With donations still coming in, the men have not yet been able to confirm their fundraising total but are pleased with their efforts.
