Following the postponement of an in-person consultation event which was due to be held in Ellon by McDonalds to show its proposal for a site on Castle Road, the online version has now opened for comments.

The site is located on Castle Road, next to the existing petrol station.

It was announced by the chain last week that it has plans to open up a restaurant and drive-thru in the Castle Road area of the town last week.

The proposed development is comprised of a single-storey building with 19 car parking spaces.

A public consultation was due to take place at the town’s New Inn Hotel on Wednesday ahead of any move being made for a formal planning application.

However wit a warning of potential adverse weather in the north-east, which has as yet not materialised, it has been postponed with a future date still to be confirmed.

A spokesperson for McDonalds said: ‘’Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the drop in event originally planned for this Wednesday.

"We are looking to reschedule shortly and as soon as it’s confirmed we will be back in touch with the local community.

“The online consultation, however is now live."

The company have set up a dedicated project website at https://mcdonaldsconsultation.co.uk/ellon/ with a deadline to submit views of March 29 which shows that the site is to be located next to the existing Tesco petrol station on a vacant plot of land.
