Dales Marine Services has launched its 2023 apprenticeship recruitment campaign.

Dales Marine, a well-established ship repair and marine specialist, continues its commitment to developing young workers and works closely with local schools and colleges to inspire pupils to consider entering the maritime and ship repair industry as a future career.

Currently, it has 34 apprentices across its dry dock sites. This year it will have 12 apprenticeship places available at its facilities.

It is looking for ambitious apprentices to help it deliver the highest standards to its clients.

It provides customised training and support, with great benefits and excellent career opportunities within the business upon completion of an apprenticeship.

Dales Marine said it is committed to developing its future talent, and apprentices play a crucial part.

This year it is looking to recruit 12 apprentices for welders, fabricators and mechanical engineers, at three of its main facilities in Aberdeen, Leith, and Greenock.

Mark Massie, Dales Marine Services HR manager, said: "Our apprenticeship scheme offers young people a thorough programme, with the promise of a full-time position at the end of the apprenticeship training and which is always popular.

"Our apprentices work alongside qualified tradespeople, allowing them to work on various projects throughout their apprenticeship."

Mr Massie added: "This is a chance for young people to start their career with a major Scottish company within the marine industry.

"We are very proud of our apprentice scheme, which has been running since 1990, and we have team leaders, senior managers and directors with us who all started their careers as apprentices at Dales Marine.

"We know from experience that most apprentices stay with the company upon completing their four-year apprenticeship with us."

The firm provides valuable, hands-on experience for each of the specialities; the apprenticeship programme lasts four years and covers a wide range of areas to help equip people with the skills they need for a successful career in the marine ship repair industry.

Applications for the apprenticeship positions can be made via www.dalesmarine.co.uk/careers

People should quote in their application the location and speciality they would like to follow.
