Police were called to the Turriff branch of the Co-op this afternoon after an incident at the store.

Three vehicles were seen outside the premises on Balmelie street just after 3pm, with the branch being closed for the rest of the day as a result by management.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 32-year-old man has been arrest and charged following an assault which happened at Balmellie Street in Turriff around 3.10pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and he is expected to appear at court at a later date.”
