The 2022 edition of the popular Macduff Calendar will be launched next week.

It will be revealed on Thursday, October 28, and will go on sale at the Macduff Market held at the town's primary school on Saturday, October 30.

With almost 500 copies of the calendar already spoken for, organisers expect remaining copies to sell out quickly.

All proceeds from the sales will go to supporting the activities of the Friends of Macduff Marine Aquarium and the Friends of Tarlair.

The calendar features stunning images drawn from more than 300 photos submitted by over 30 local photographers.

This edition also features children's artwork submitted as part of a competition held in the run up to the production of the calendar. The chosen images, children's drawings and the coveted cover photograph are closely under wraps until the launch.

A spokesman for the Friends of Macduff Marine Aquarium said: "This is the seventh edition of the calendar, and it is distributed all over the world – as far as Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand as well as throughout the UK with many repeat customers keen to be reminded of Macduff and its surrounding area.

"The calendar is a real community effort involving local photographers, businesses, and children and we are very grateful for all the support we receive.

"Many of our photographers and sponsors have been with us since the very first calendar which is fantastic.

"Our business supporters this year are: Macduff Dental, The Knowes Hotel, Walter Gerrard & Co, The Seafront/Paterson’s Ship Chandlers and Painters, Macduff Shipyards, Inshore Fish Supply, The Garret Home Furnishings, Grampian Cars, Steven Clark Motor Body Repairs, The Platform, Greenlaw Building and Roofing, The Spotty Bag Shop, and Deveron FM.”

“COVID restrictions mean that numbers able to attend the live launch have to be limited to invited guests only and hence we are looking to hold a virtual event alongside it, which hopefully our friends overseas can join into.

"We will be publishing details of how to join in the next few days on our Facebook page and by email to those who have been in contact.

"When the calendar goes on public sale it is eagerly anticipated and we expect to be very busy. Last year we sold out within five days – so we would encourage folk to pre-order their copies by contacting us via Facebook, email to FOMMAquarium@gmail.com or by calling 01261 832849 to avoid disappointment.”
