Plans for the popular Macduff calendar are under way with several images having already been submitted for inclusion and sponsors stepped forward to support the project.

This will be the seventh edition of the calendar which is organised by community groups Friends of Macduff Marine Aquarium (FOMMA) and the Friends of Tarlair.

Copies find their way all the way around the world including in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and the 2021 version sold out within a week of its publication.

This year's calendar will go on sale at the end of October and can be pre-ordered.

For the 2022 calendar, there will be a focus on harbour life and photographers are invited to submit landscape images on that theme as well as the usual selection of photos of local scenes, landscapes, wildlife and buildings based in Macduff.

The organisers have also announced that there will be a children’s art competition with photos of the winning entries shown on the back cover of the calendar.

Chairman of FOMMA Keith Newton said: "We hope that there will be a large number of entries submitted for judging by our two guest judges, Billy and Jenny Ewen.

"We’re sure they will have a difficult job in choosing the prize-winning entries in each age group category – P1-P3, P4-P7 and secondary.

“We would also like to include some small copies of artwork throughout the calendar as these proved popular in the 2021 calendar.

"The theme of the competition is Macduff and has been intentionally left very broad. It can be a picture of buildings, boats, the harbour, wildlife, the river, the bridge – the choice is yours.

"Entries, which should be no larger than A4, can be sent either by email to FOMMAqaurium@gmail.com, originals can be left at the aquarium or at 45 Duff Street, by the end of August. Don’t forget to add the name of the artist, their age group and contact details on the back."

The calendar can be pre-ordered through the group's email, via the Friends of Macduff Marine Aquarium Facebook page or call 01261 832849.
