An Audax long distance cycle run came through Aberdeenshire on Saturday with participants taking on a 310km challenge.

An Audax ride – known internationally as a Randonnée – has to be completed within a set time limit, including any stops to eat or rest. Distances range from 50km to 1400km

The cyclists began at Nairn Country’s football ground Station Park at 6am and travelled through the north-east and beyond.

The route took them through communities including Lossiemouth, Banff, Turriff, Dufftown, Tomintoul, Aviemore, Craggie before finishing in Nairn.

It included cycling along the seafront path at Banff Links where conditions were favourable and they could enjoy views of the Banffshire coast.

The event had 32 starters set off from Station Park with 27 of them returning to the finish line.

Organiser Andy Uttley said: “Thanks to everybody for entering and making this an enjoyable event. The next Highland Audax event is Hellfire Corner 400 from Strathpeffer on Saturday, May 21.”
