With the Scottish Government continuing to ease the current lockdown, part of phase 3 meant that Beauty Salons across the country reopened on July 22 with enhanced hygiene and physical distancing measures.

The National Hair and Beauty Federation have issued online guideline booklets for all staff to follow, following the reopening of their salon, these include staff to wear a visor at all times and customers must to continue wearing a mask indoors.

Some local Turriff beauty salons who reopened are Karima Hair and Beauty Salon and The Beauty Cabin, Karolina Szulka of Karmina hair and Beauty Salon said:

“We are delighted to have reopened our doors for regular and new clients.

“Its been a long 4 months.

“We have managed to organise and prepare everything, we were thinking ahead during lockdown about what the Salon and our staff might need, what the guidelines might be, so I think we did pretty good.

“ We are happy that our regular clients are coming back and are back to booking appointments with us.

“We also have few new clients and we are hoping to welcome even more!

“We have also invested in extra disinfectants and sterilising in the Salon.

“ We purchased Compact sterilisator and we offer now an even more healthy and safe environment for our staff and customers coming in for treatments. “

The Beauty Cabin in Turriff have made sure the Salon is full of PPE for every customer, Donna Gullan from The Beauty Cabin said:

“I'm so excited to be open again, I have missed it so much and I have missed all my customers.

“I contacted ladies that were booked in prior to lockdown that had to be cancelled first and made them priority along with anyone that contacted me requesting to be added to priority list.

“Slowly worked through it one by one and got them booked back into diary.

“It will be busy, especially as we are loosing a lot of appointment time for extra precaution cleaning before and after each customer is in the salon.

“ I'm working extra hours to help get everyone fitted in.

“I have signs up to use provided hand sanitiser on entry and exit.

“Masks are to be worn by every customer and myself.

" I myself will have ppe of an apron, gloves and masks.

"All equipment sterilised - as usual after every use, towels washed and sanitised after use, work tops, door handles and chairs cleaned after every customer.”
