Alan Reid from Fraserburgh, decided to write a song during lockdown containing as many funny Doric words as he could imagine to entertain himself while the School was closed due to the pandemic.

Alan who has been active on his social media pages during lockdown by doing his own virtual concerts every week and appearing on Eat On The Green's live streams, has also been involving the public in gathering inspiration for his Doric songs via his Facebook page called Bundy at https://www.facebook.com/bundybroch/

The Doric Min was written by Alan just for a bit of fun during these strange times and the song only took around 10 minutes to write.

Alan Reid said: “The Inspiration came out of lock down.

“I started listening to Scottish folk music and re-kindled my love affair with it.

“Then I decided that the Doric language would probably be good for songs because it is so descriptive, percussive and onomatopoeic.

“I asked the Bundy facebook fans what their favourite Doric words were and tried to fit as many of them as possible into a song.

“I also thought it would be a good laugh for people to combat the boredom of lock down.

“From sitting down to write it and recording the video that is on just now, it took about 20 minutes.

“ It came really quick because I was just messing around with it”

The video has been viewed in places worldwide including views from people in Canada and Australia and following the success Alan is now looking to get funding for an Album to be released by the end of this year which will include songs in Doric.

So far Alan has written three called Pray for me I married a Scotsman, The Pittullie Dentist and Jamie Fleeman- Undys Fool.

The songs on the album are to be inspired by personal stories and stories from all over the local area and the north-east.

Alan has released a few other albums but this will be the first album which contains all of his songs in Doric as he feels it is important to keep the Doric language going and to not let it disappear , Alan added: “It has been viewed more than 300,000 times and I have received messages and comments from people all over the world.

“It has reconnected me with some people as well who I knew in the past and have gotten in touch to say someone sent it to them.

“I have received a lot of messages from older people who emigrated from the north east, and some of their relatives.

“The response from the public was so overwhelming!”
