Tuesday afternoon saw the William Blannin and her volunteer crew called into action a few miles along the coast, as a spokesman for the lifeboat station explained.

"The Buckie RNLI lifeboat was launched at 3.3pm on Tuesday March 12 after we received a report from the Coastguard of a 20ft creel boat in trouble just off the coast of Portsoy.

"The vessel had lost power and the high winds at the time present an additional factor to be considered.

"On arriving at the scene the lifeboat crew established a tow and took the boat back to the safety of Portsoy Harbour.

"There were no casualties in what was a textbook operation. The Willim Blannin was back at her moorings in Buckie at around 5pm."

It was the latest call-out in a busy spell for the life-saving volunteers.

The spokesman continued: "It has been a busy start to 2019 for the crew. Last Tuesday was our fourth shout of the new year, which is above average.

"Last year looks like it was one of our busiest in quite some while."
