A MEMORABLE afternoon took place in the Friendship room in Kemnay village hall this week.

Reminiscence group leader Hamish Simpson organised a visit from Aberdeenshire library events team.

Alana Low, senior library administrator and her assistant Lorrae Riddell Charlesworth brought along a wonderful selection of photographs and books with a Scottish theme.

There were pictures of old time farming, the fishing industry, oil, windfarms to name a few.

Reminiscence folk and Tuesday centre members soon got together recalling their happy childhood on the farm and on holidays.

Two ladies recalled not-so-happy times fish-filleting at Aberdeen fish market.

Said one: "But it was a job and a job meant money".

For convenor of Tuesday centre Mary Michie there was a moment of unexpected nostalgia.

She opened a book and found herself staring at vintage photographs of her own grand-parents and cousin!

Reminiscence leader Hamish said: "We wanted to choose a subjects that would appeal to everybody.

"So taking a nostalgic look at places and the countryside seemed to fit the bill."

The afternoon event proved so popular the Aberdeenshire library events team have been asked back and will be appearing in December with fresh material suitable for reminiscence.
