Residents in Kintore are being encouraged to make their comments known on the current iteration of plans for a town park.

The plans have been ongoing since back in 2017, being tied to housing developments in the town and have seen several revisions and changes, but no progress.

A spokesperson for Kintore and District Community Council commented: "Kintore and District Community Council really appreciate the enthusiasm and willingness of everyone to submit their comments and suggestions.

"We should bottle this community spirit going forward and plan what our options are within the bounds of the available space."

They continued: "The green space should be available via asset transfer to a community group, but it seems we will need to raise funds to create any facilities, most communities have, for example, tennis courts which are organised and maintained by the Tennis Clubs and skateparks are developed and run by community groups.

"If there is enough interest and community support, and there seems to be, we could work as a community to look into them in depth including possible sources of funding.

"We are looking to work collaboratively with the local community to produce a Local Place Plan for Kintore, covering all aspects of the town and we will organise a public meeting to get input into it, hopefully with people with experience of providing tennis courts and skateparks or interested in finding out.

"We need you to help us progress our plans – and to suggest ways of funding a town park that meets our needs.

"The Facebook page for Banchory Skatepark shows what can be achieved by the Community if the will is there."

Members of the Community can submit objections/support on to the Planning Portal, the application is APP/2023/0872 and is open for comment until July 13.

"There is a strong feeling in the community and submitting comments will show the depth of interest in this proposal," they continued.

"On the portal you will also find documents from other Agencies like Environment Team – Natural Heritage which allude to some of the concerns expressed about access.

"The Community Council has already submitted an objection and this is available on the Planning Services Portal, we have a shorter time frame to submit."
