Poppies were the theme at Kemnay's Tuesday centre meeting this week.

Clever crafty fingers of members in the Friendship room at the village hall resulted in a colourful array of poppy petals, green leaves and bits and pieces in preparation for Armistice day.

Working from a kit supplied by convenor Mary Michie and the help of tutor Margaret Christie members were soon stitching and snipping little pieces of scarlet felt.

Some were experienced seamstresses while others confessed to being complete novices.

Everyone agreed the trickiest part was threading the tiny needles.

But all with a little help all succeeded in producing a very recognisable poppy with the final touch, a pin to affix to the back to turn it into a brooch.

One of the first to finish Agnes Barrack was pleased with her first attempt.

She said: "Once I got started the pieces seemed to fall into place."

The next Tuesday centre meeting is on October 10 when the guest will be entertainer Ian Dow
