Keith radio show nominated for Scots Language award

“FIT’S happenin?” Well, Keith Community Radio’s Trad Time wi TMSA has been nominated for Project of the Year in the 2023 Scots Language Awards.

The fortnightly programme, presented by bothy ballad singers Allan Taylor and Natalie Chalmers, is an ode to the richness of Scottish culture.

James Wiseman, the radio station's chairman, said: "We have a terrific variety of traditional and Scottish music and song shows on KCR 107.7FM – encompassing folk, piping, Scottish dance music, doric poetry, and song.

"This is a fantastic accolade for our presenters and KCR. We hope the public will get behind us and vote for Trad Time wi TMSA in the competition."

The awards were created by Scotland’s traditional culture, music and arts organisation, Hands up for Trad.

This is directed by Simon Thoumire, who said: “It is sic an excitin time in oor annual calendar whan nominations open for the Scots Leid Awards.

"It’s ay a grand thing tae learn aboot and gie recognition tae fowk wha are dedicatit tae championin the Scots leid that we michtnae itherwise ken aboot.

“An tae hear sic inspirational stories fae the public, it is wunnerfu tae see sic a growth in the yiss o the Scots leid.”

It’s a double celebration for Natalie Chalmers who has also received a nomination in the Performer of the Year category.

Trad Time wi TMSA is an hourly programme and is broadcasted every alternative Tuesday at 9pm. Their catch up slot is always the following day at 1pm

The winners of the Scots Language Awards 2023 are decided by public vote and the ceremony will take place at Johnstone Town Hall, Renfrewshire on Saturday, September 16.
