The local charity have been renovating the historic 1950's train - which has been dubbed the Dram Tram - since January of this year and the team are holding an open day next weekend for locals to see the vehicles transformation first-hand.

Alan Moir, a volunteer and board member at Keith and Dufftown Railway said: "The carriage has been lying about within the railway for a few years and at the start of this year our volunteers took it into the shed and have basically gutted the entire train - inside and out - and have replaced everything.

"It has been amazing to see the transformation and how it has all come together."

Although the train's official opening is not until March, the team will host a preview day next Saturday (November 26) from 10am - 2pm so locals can have a sneak peek of the Dram Tram.

Once finished, the historic vehicle will be available to the public for functions such as whisky tastings, weddings and other special events.

Alan added: "Seeing it today is really amazing. The work has all been done by a group of 12 volunteers, which is not a lot for a project of this size and it has come along really well - we're very excited for the public to come along and see it."
