The chapel and the old hall were bright with buntings, colourful table decorations and glorious food masterminded by church social convenor Molly Conn.

The Jubilee menu included the apt coronation chicken vol-u-vents, cream cheese and cucumber and smoked salmon sandwhiches with an array of dainty desserts.

And the church was aglow with striking flower arrangements with crowns, the handiwork of Inverurie artiste Eileen Robertson and her dedicated team.

There were also displays of crowns created by groups who use the building including St Andrews playgroup, 1st Inverurie Brownies, 2nd Inverurie Rainbows and Inverurie Boys Brigade.

The craft fair was also busy with visitors admiring the work of local crafters.

Commenting on behalf of the church and organisers, Kit Pawson said:" A sumptuous afternoon tea was served to over 180 people on Saturday.

" The hall and chapel were beautifully decorated and there was a happy buzz of conversation in both rooms.

"Thanks must be given to Molly Conn and her team, those in the kitchen , the waiting staff , those who baked , gave donations and those who gave of their time in so many ways to make the day such a success.

"Thanks to the crafters who set up tables in the small chapel to display and sell their wares.

"The church has never looked more beautiful , it was simply breathtaking with the crowns made by Alan Robertson and Duncan Naismith and then floral displays added by Eileen Robertson and her team of ladies.

"We even had the "Queen" sitting in a corner surveying the scene !

"Pete Milne’s beautiful vintage car, a 1954 Alvis Gray Lady Saloon, was parked in front of the church perhaps ready to take HR. back to Balmoral.

"Such a happy day of fun and fellowship where a magnificent £1910 was raised."
