What do you know about DYW Moray?

It could be that we work with businesses to help better prepare young people for the world of work, and you would be right, but did you know we are also here to support businesses?

As a reminder of our free service to businesses, we are here to help you with: connecting you to a local school or college to educate young people about your industry/organisation; providing recruitment advice when hiring a young person; providing upskilling advice for people in your business; identifying talent; advertising jobs suitable for young people on our social media platforms, website and send directly to schools/colleges; giving back to your community; developing and energising current staff, and raising company and industry profile.

We appreciate the last few years have posed a lot of challenges for businesses across the region and, as we look to plan our year, we are keen to identify how we can align our offer to meet your needs.

If you are a business, with a presence in Moray, we would appreciate if you would take the time to complete our short survey: https://forms.office.com/e/gkHzRMZGVX

Whilst our focus is looking forward, as I prepare our annual report, it would be remiss of me not to mention I have also been looking back on 2022.

Since April 2022, we have facilitated over 500 employer supported work inspiration/preparation activities in the schools ranging from workshops and masterclasses to talks and site visits.

We have made 168 employer referrals for apprenticeship or other government schemes.

The team have been out filming with employers – finding out more about what they do, showcasing opportunities within their businesses and highlighting what they look for in applicants.

To support employers, we also ran a number of events including workshops and job fairs and have promoted hundreds of job vacancies and volunteering opportunities.

As a thank you, and to acknowledge the tremendous support businesses have offered to young people, we introduced our Employer Recognition Certificates in July.

So far, these have been presented to Baxters, Balfour Beatty, Chivas Pernod Ricard, Elgin Truck and Van Centre, Elgin Youth Development Group and Out of the Darkness Theatre Group.

Our biggest difficulty is choosing one employer a month out of so many worthy contenders!
