A STOCKJUDGING and social event in memory of a well-respected agricultural journalist raised £16,000 for two charities.

The Stronach family hosted the event in memory of Joe Watson at their Berryleys Farm in Keith earlier this month.

The family presented the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RSABI) with a cheque worth £8,000 on the NFU Scotland stand at this year’s Royal Highland Show.

The remaining £8000 has been donated to MacMillan Cancer.

Joe Watson, the farming editor of The Press and Journal, died suddenly in 2014 at the age of just 43.
