Inverurie man named as victim of Stonehaven incident

A man has been arrested and charged with assault following a disturbance in Stonehaven.

Police were called to business premises on Broomhill Road on Tuesday, September 26 following a report of a disturbance.

Emergency services attended and a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with assault and is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday, 28 September, 2023.

The 30-year-old can be named as David McGuinness from Inverurie.

His family have released the following statement through Police Scotland – “David was a much loved son, partner, brother, uncle and doting father to his four young children. He will be sorely missed every day by all who knew him.

"The family are absolutely devastated by what has happened and would like privacy at this difficult time. “

Detective Inspector James Callander said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of David at this difficult time.

"The family have asked for privacy while they come to terms with this loss.”
