A decision on the proposed residential development, including affordable properties, will be made on May 14 and if approved, a detailed planning application will then be submitted.

Marked on the local development plan as Site OP15 it is allocated in LDP2023 for 130 homes, but the document submitted notes that the proposal is for around 90-100 new homes, predominantly detached four or five bedrooms. It is also noted that 25 per cent of the total number of homes will be affordable, and they will be integrated into the development.

Cala recently held two public exhibitions of the masterplan. The proposal would add a second phase to the housebuilder’s previous development, The Grove at Inverurie.

Lynn Melvin, Senior Land Manager for Cala Homes (North), said: “This is a great opportunity to bring more much-needed, high-quality homes to Inverurie. The development would be adjacent to our successful first phase, The Grove at Inverurie, which sold out at the end of 2021 and saw the creation of 43 homes. Our recent public exhibition events were well attended, and we were encouraged by the engagement from those who came to share their views. We look forward to hearing the outcome on 14th May and working with the Council to progress our plans.”

The proposed new development would include the roll-out of Cala’s Community Pledge initiative in Inverurie. The Pledge sees the creation of a bespoke suite of community support, which can include donations, volunteering, school programmes, sustainability initiatives and more. Cala works with local people to shape each Pledge, to ensure the measures meet local needs.

Lynn continued: “Our Community Pledge is at the heart of each new neighbourhood we build, and if our plans are approved, we look forward to continuing to work with the local community to establish a meaningful Pledge for Inverurie.”
