CrossFitShire's premises at the Burghmuir Estate in Inverurie was the venue on a sunny Saturday for a fundraising event in aid of the Oldmeldrum Breast Cancer Now charity

Wilma Waterston and Elaine Anderson co-chairs of the charity joined Ross Crosbie, owner of the gym in hosting the event to raise awareness of breast cancer and to support Breast Cancer Now.

Ross put together a programme of events for all the family including a family workout.

Breast Cancer Now is a charity very close to Ross’s heart as there is an strong history of it in his family as he explained: "I've lost several family members to it over the years, and when the Wilma and Elaine said they wanted to do an event, it was a no brainer and I was happy to help out."

The Oldmeldrum BCN group was established over twenty years ago and in that time, they have raised almost £600,000 through various fundraising events including Ladies‘ Lunches, afternoon teas, hamper suppers and have been a regular attendee at the Oldmeldrum Sports over the years.

The group expressed a very grateful thanks to Ross for hosting the event and to the many supporters, past and present who so generously donated.

Wilma said: "We had a hugely successful day with a great turn-out and raised £2330.

"The family workouts organised by Ross were hugely enjoyed by all - kids, mums, dads, grannies and grandads.

"Many people contributed to the success of the day.

"All those who came along and bought raffle tickets; those who so generously donated to the raffle - Gibbs of Inverurie, No8 The Key, Specsavers, Bellemarie of Kintore and The Devenick Drinks Co to mention a few. J G Ross’s donated sandwiches, wraps and cakes kept everyone going - delicious.

"Our biggest thank you goes to Ross for choosing to support Breast Cancer Now."
