Inspired Nights will turn Shiprow into the hub of the magnificent Nuart Aberdeen street art festival this weekend.
With a rich variety of food, drink, entertainment – and some special surprises – Shiprow will be the place to be as the Granite City celebrates this world-class event which runs until Sunday, June 9.
Inspired Nights will take place on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10pm, turning the whole of the historic street into an al fresco treat where people can mingle and enjoy the atmosphere.
Adding to the party feel will be free face painters, a glitter bar and bubble art.
As well as warm welcome from the Shiprow bars – Molly Malones and the Ivy Lodge – and food vendors – Aberdam Dutch Fries, Shipyard Street Food and 16 Below – there will be some additional treats on offer from Haydn’s Woodfired Pizzas and Dough & Co – with the latter offering a unique Nuart donut.
Entertainment will come from the cream of local music – with live performances from Ellen Bain and Jamie Rodden – and DJs, Andy Buchan, Look Busy Collective and David Milne.
There will also be an information point about Nuart Aberdeen – staged by Aberdeen Inspired and Aberdeen City Council – and the festival’s popular walking tours will be leaving from Shiprow’s Aberdeen Maritime Museum.
Keith Martin, development and operations manager of Shiprow Village, said: “We are really looking forward to Shiprow Village being the hub of Nuart Aberdeen this weekend.
“There is a fantastic Nuart piece on Shiprow looking over the street and it is great to see the excitement it has been bringing to the area over the past few days as people stand and observe the artist (Case Maclaim) at work.
“The atmosphere will be amazing at the weekend when you add some music, food and drinks to the mix.”
Stuart McPhee, co-founder of Dough & Co, said he was delighted to create a special, purple-tinged donut – Nuart Aberdeen’s colours - for the festival and to have it at Inspired Nights.
He said: “We wanted to help showcase all that is fun and good about the Nuart festival. It is one of the best street art festivals in the world and we are only a small doughnut shop.
“The festival inspired our creative side and after a bit of footering we managed to produce a purple base doughnut that we will be rolling out over the course of the festival. We are proud to be a part of Inspired Nights as it brings a unique experience to the city centre.”
