Independent councillor voted in as new chair of Marr area committee

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Independent, Geva Blackett has been appointed as the new chair of the Marr Area Committee.

The appointment follows Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford Scottish Conservative and Unionist’s Robbie Withey’s decision to step down from the role on March 20 and was made during a meeting of the Marr Area Committee on Tuesday, April 16.

Councillor Gwyneth Petrie had also been nominated for the position of chair, with Geva Blackett appointed following a vote.

Fellow councillor Jeff Goodhall was then appointed as vice-chair of the committee unoposed, the role previously having been held by councillor Blackett.
