Police in the Garioch area have again raised concerns over several instances whereby residents have had their wheelie bins either stolen, or moved from their storage area and the contents gone through.

The latest incident saw homes in the Leylodge area targeted, with previous incidents having taken place in and around Kemnay. Hatton of Fintray and near Fraserburgh.

The concern for officers lies with the fact that this has been done in order to gain personal details in order to carry out identity theft.

Identity theft happens when fraudsters access enough information about someone’s identity, such as their name, date of birth, bank details, current or previous addresses to commit identity fraud.

All residents are being asked to ensure they safely dispose of all items of confidential mail.revent this happening.
