There was a week of fun and adventure in and around Tarves with the first ever Tarves Scarecrow Festival.

Organised by Tarves Heritage Centre, who described the event as “highly successful”, boasted 14 scarecrows in Tarves village as well as two in Craigdam.

The scarecrows were born from a range of inspirations, including popular characters, favourite hobbies and even hallowe’en.

The community was full of praise for the event and for the efforts of everybody who made a scarecrow, with comments including: “all looked fantastic”, “all of the scarecrows were great” and “we can’t wait to do it again”.

It was later revealed that the winning scarecrow was Paddington Bear, situated on the corner of Presley Avenue and Duthie Road.

Taking to social media, organisers wrote: “Thank you to all the participants for brightening up our lovely villages.”

The group also ran a number of seasonally themed craft mornings throughout the holidays which were well attended.

Tarves Heritage Project, who operates the centre, works to preserve and promote the heritage of Tarves and Barthol Chapel Parish.
