Tarves flower show returned this weekend for its 72nd event.

The recent hot, dry weather has not been without it's problems for many gardeners, and this was reflected on Saturday as organisers noted a reduced turn out in some sections.

Charirperson Sheila Ewen said: "Like everyone else, our last flower show was in 2019, so we were uncertain as to the response we would get staging the show this year.

"Entries in the fruit and vegetable sections were down which was entirely due to the fluctuations in the weather, earlier in the year it was cold and then of course heat came and many vegetables were past their best by show day.

"No doubt when next year’s catalogues are being pored over by gardeners, they will be looking for items that are suitable for the changing weather conditions, which we will all have to adapt to in coming years.

"We had a very good turnout of people coming to the show in the afternoon.

"We are always very well supported by the community, whether that is helping in the background or coming to browse and have a cup of tea on the day, our thanks go to everyone."
