The summer sun was shining on Turriff on Saturday as the Let’s Kick This Together charity football derby took place at the Haughs.

Organised by Darren Findlay of Chapman Electrical and Ryan Morrison of Ardinn Homes, the event began last year initially as a football match between teams from the two businesses along with a family fun day at The Haughs, Turriff, but quickly snowballed into a fun tournament that pitted local teams against each other in support of Men United SCIO.

Back in action this year, the tournament involved 34 teams in a five-a-side tournament played throughout the day across four pitches.

Last year, almost £12,000 was raised and a total is set to be announced in the coming days.

On the pitch some closely fought games saw Craig Allan Builders, Matthew Sim Coaching, Chapman Electrical, CWS Joinery, All Air Tech, Allan Electrical, Cheynes of Banff and Ardinn Homes win their respective groups before the quarter and semi-finals.

The final saw last year's winners Chapman Electrical face a determined Cheynes of Banff, who emerged as this year's winners in a 3-0 victory.
