MANY of Huntly's top community groups and charities are joining forces for a free event in March – set to entertain families while helping them.

Hosted at the Linden Centre, on Saturday, March 16, the event will show the wide range of support available to those in the local area.

However, it will also feature a soft play, crafts and music.

Though organised by Gordon Rural Action (GRA), the event will also be attended by at least 10 other support services.

Local services attending include under-5s group Wee Toots, Deveron Projects, autism group ASDitude, Networks of Wellbeing and Full Colour Coaching.

These will be joined by wide-reaching charities: Turning Point, which helps with substance abuse, mental health, homelessness, justice and disability; Assistance Dogs Scotland; Let's All Talk North East Mums (Latnem); Baby First Aid; Child Smile and Barnardos.

Also represented will be GRA's own Baby Bank and Uniform Exchange, which between them have handed out more than 100 items in the last month.

And the charity's advice team will be on hand to make appointments and answer questions.

Activities for children will be provided by after school club Schools Out, which is based in the Linden Centre.

The library will also host a Bookbug session and Happy Little Tunes will deliver Mini Music Sessions.

GRA's support services coordinator Kayleigh Nicholls said a grant from the ASDA Foundation was key to funding hall hire, refreshments and entertainment.

The cash also enabled volunteers to receive training.

Ms Nicholls said: "This event is a fantastic opportunity for local families to see the services and activities available to them in the area.

"We also really like getting feedback so Gordon Rural Action staff and volunteers are available on the day to discuss any comments or queries people may have.

"It will be great to get all these different projects and services under one roof, working together for the people living in the Huntly area.

"We love partnership working and are hoping to do much more of it in the future."

GRA are also hosting a fundraising stall in Asda Huntly on March 23, with a Baby Bank Open Day at The Stewart's Hall on March 30.
