Sixth year Eirhin Mcvey kicked off her new term on Monday, August 22 as the new school captain.

Eirhin sat five Highers and achieved all As.

She said: “The exams were very stressful at the time but it definitely paid off and I can’t complain.

“I have a lot of stuff to do as school captain, so I think I will probably take a break from working super hard in all my classes.”

Cohen Chisholm (16) sat seven National 5 exams, achieving six As and a B.

He said: “I was quite happy with it.

“I mean, I wanted all As but I have just accepted that Physics went the way it did.

“I was really behind in some subjects after lockdown, but catching up was actually quite fun.

“It was a challenge, but enjoyable too.”

The Gordon Schools head teacher Phil Gaiter said: “I am very proud they got the rewards they deserved for their hard work.

“For some pupils, though, it is more challenging, so we want to celebrate everybody’s attainment.

“Across SQA qualifications, Foundation Apprenticeships and everything else, pupils have done incredibly well.”

The most commonly awarded grade at The Gordon Schools across National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher was an A.

Through work with the Princes Trust, 31 pupils attained Achievement Awards at SCQF Levels 3 (15 pupils), 4 (12 pupils) and 5 (4 pupils).

Thirteen pupils passed seven National 5s including three with seven As.

Eleven pupils gained six As at National 5, with three other pupils gaining five As.

45 pupils gained five or more A – C passes at National 5, while five pupils achieved five As at Higher.

22 pupils achieved five Higher passes and 54 achieved three or more Higher passes in this exam diet.

At Advanced Higher, one pupil gained four As, with five pupils gaining three AH passes

125 National 4 Awards were gained by pupils.

22 pupils gained Foundation Apprenticeship Awards across four frameworks covering IT Software Development, Social Services and Healthcare, Automotive Skills and Construction Skills.

Phil Gaiter: "We want to celebrate everyone for their achievement, the effort they put in, and also because they have come through such a difficult, challenging time with the Pandemic, with online learning, no school, some school, disrupted friendships.

"We want to come together now to celebrate the fact that people have come together now to celebrate getting somewhere.

"Whether it was a National 2, National 3, National 4, National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher, Foundation Apprenticeship, Girls in Energy, Prince's Trust certificate, we want to celebrate everybody's attainment.

"Getting recognition, getting formal recognition for what they have done.

"I think that is really important and I want to give a massive pat on the back to the entire community, the parents, the carers, the school staff, teaching staff, support staff.
"Everybody has worked together brilliantly for all these good results.

"It is important that everyone is recognised."
