Huntly Highland dancers success at Pre-Championships

Two young dancers from Huntly had a successful competition weekend after winning sought after Pre-Championship titles at the Tayside Championships held in Montrose on Sunday.

Freya Anderson won the 11yrs with two 1sts in the Highland Fling & Reel, 3rd in the Seann Triubhas and a 4th in the Sword.

She has been dancing since she was two years old and did her first competition age four.

Caitlin Cooper, age 13, had to dance in a double age group 13/14yrs and got two 1sts in the Sword & Reel, 2nd Highland Fling and 4th Seann Triubhas.

She has been dancing since she was three years old and only recently moved up to Premier at the end of February this year.

Both girls attend the Brenda Gordon School of dance classes held in Cairnie twice a week and take private lessons.

teacher Sarah-Ann Smith said; "We are extremely proud of how hard the girls have worked to achieve this huge goal. "Once you win your Pre's you compete at Championship level.

"Both girls enjoy competing at the Highland games and doing displays for the care homes."
